Update: I have moved the contents of this website to my personal domain at: www.ericmajinglong.com. Please visit there instead!

Hello! My name is Eric Jinglong Ma, and I’m a 4th year Integrated Science student in Biochemistry and Cancer Biology at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC.

As a student in the life sciences, I have found my passion away from the traditional and popular medicine/law/engineering fields, and instead, I’ve discovered my niche in research. Yes, I love research and I want to become a scientist doing work on cancer biology. Specifically, I would like to be involved in genetic programming – the use of synthetic biology to program minimal cells to have different effector functions, especially in therapeutics and diagnostics, with primary applications in cancer but also extensible to other diseases.

I’ve recently made a foray into Synthetic Biology through my participation in the UBC iGEM team. As I have written about before, it has been the “complete research experience”, and has given me an opportunity to see the real world of research. I look forward to working in the summer and presenting with the team at the Competition Jamboree this November. Our team has made a lot of progress, and we hope to keep the momentum going.

You may browse through my site by using the nagivation bar on the right hand side.
