New Domain!
I finally have my own domain! You can continue to follow this blog on http://www.ericmajinglong.com/. I will cease to post on WordPress until I decide that maintaining my own domain just isn’t feasible……. I hope that day never comes!
A Fresh Start… Again
Each year, near the end of the year, it seems I do something new with regards to my blog. This year, I’m thinking of trying out WordPress, to see if moving back to an online system (which, incidentally, can be used offline too by using Google Gears – yay for technology!) works better than keeping everything offline. I’ve tried Google’s Blogger, but it always seemed a bit clunky and not clean enough. Moreover, it didn’t have good expandability compared to other services, such as WP. And its compatibility was 2nd rate for users of Safari.
So now I’m going to try this one out. And this year, I’m going to try out blogging about things that I haven’t done regularly before. Things such as saying more about the undergraduate research experience. And more about my spiritual life too. More snippets too. In a way, I think I’ll let this place become more of a public diary.
Since WordPress also has an iPhone application, I will be able to make postings from anywhere I am – that’s perfect for the highly mobile lifestyle I have around the UBC campus, where internet is ubiquitous too. Yes, admittedly, being mobile around the UBC campus isn’t as dramatic as being mobile around, say, Vancouver, but still… I’m always on the move yeah…
Enough said, now time to go to bed. Hopefully I get up in time tomorrow!
Hello World!
Cheezy as the post title sounds, I am going to title it that way anyways just because that’s the way I’d like the title to be.
I’m working on doing blog snippets using my iPhone, and this is an experimental run to see if I can sustain it. My first set of snippets will come from my recent viewing of the HSBC Celebration of Light fireworks display (feat. Team Canada – GO CANADA!!!). Following that, I will post photos of a PhD defense, and then a trip to the Okanagan to visit my friend A-Gui.
Hopefully this experimental run works out!! If things work out, I will also keep doing a set of “Planning Posts” so that I can pace myself as to what I’d like to post up.
